Martin, Gerald S.

Jerry Martin is Associate Professor of Finance at the Kogod School of Business, American University, Washington, D.C. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in corporate finance and quantitative analysis. His research focuses on securities regulation and enforcement activities, corporate payout policy, financial distress, and Warren Buffett. Professor Martin has published in top scholarly journals such as Journal of Financial Economics and Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis. Before embarking on his academic career, Dr. Martin spent 17 years in the private sector as President and CEO of TMI Aircraft Finance/Leasing, LLC and in both finance and marketing for two subsidiaries of Textron Inc.; Textron Financial Corporation and Bell Helicopter Textron and was responsible for originating and managing a portfolio that exceeded $1 billion in aviation equipment financing worldwide.
